Work experience

Juerg Klarer, Æquilibrium Consulting's Principal, has 20+ years of international experience in the areas national climate/environmental finance mechanisms and green taxation / fiscal reform. Since the Green Climate Fund (GCF) was operationalised, he focuses also on GCF readiness (incl. NDA strengthening and NIE accreditation) and the elaboration of GCF funding proposals.

In these areas Juerg Klarer has worked for a number of renowned organizations, including the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), CDKN, COWI, the Czech Development Assistance, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency (DEPA), the European Union/EuropeAid, the Fondation Internationale du Banc d’Arguin, the French Global Environment Facility, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), GFA Group, the Instituto Semeia, Kommunalkredit Public Consulting, the Linden Trust for Conservation, LTSI, the Maldivian Ministry of Environment and Energy, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), particip GmbH, the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC), SSN, the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco), Swisscontact, UNDP, UNEP, UNIDO, UNECE and the World Bank.

In the past 20+ years, Juerg Klarer has led, or been involved in, projects focused on the following countries and regions: Albania, Armenia, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, People’s Republic of China, DR Congo, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Ecuador, Estonia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Greece, Grenada, Hungary, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Kyrgyz Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, the FYR of Macedonia, Madagascar, Maldives, Mali, Mauretania, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Namibia, Peru, Poland, Romania, the Russian Federation, Serbia, the Slovak Republic, Slovenia, South Africa, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, Tunisia, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zambia. In addition, Jürg Klarer has led, or been involved in region-wide projects in: Central and Eastern Europe, South Eastern Europe, Mediterranean countries, countries of Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia and South East Asia.
